Manufacturing Manager - Fitting and Inspection
£40-55k yearly
Bedford
Fulltime hours Mon-Fri
Key Purpose of the Job:
Lead the manufacturing team in its successful delivery of manufacturing activities and associated business activities competently, securely and safely. Work in close cooperation with the technical managers, resource managers, project managers and head of department.
The role is to facilitate the effective communication between the manufacturing areas with key stakeholders and the successful management of expectations across the organisation. This will be achieved by developing, improving and maintaining the skills, capabilities and process, so that the area can be considered world class by its customer base.
Needs to Do:
* Responsible and accountable for the co-ordination and utilisation of resources and assets in a multidisciplinary environment including the delivery of schedules to facilitate the successful delivery of business targets
* Participate in the D&M integrated planning process including time and resource estimation in support of Production Engineering and bidding for work.
* Ensure the team proactively support project delivery plans and complete tasks on time, to cost and project specific quality standards
* Support commercial activity as required both internally and externally i.e. definition of capability for portfolio development, exploration of new technical disciplines and technologies, capability and capacity forecasting and customer contact
* To assist the Head of D&M in developing operational strategies for continual improvement i.e. processes, capability and growth
* Manage growth i.e. turnover, capability, environment, headcount and market in line with department and company strategies
* Project manage discrete manufacturing work where resource is primarily from within the section
Experience:
* Knowledge of design, manufacturing and production procedures, machines, tools and techniques used in the manufacture of tightly toleranced metallic componentry
* Demonstrate leadership experience of technical projects with a record of delivering within challenging time, quality and cost targets
* Demonstrable experience in the management of complex manufacturing projects is important, formal project management experience would be a benefit
* Experienced in a technical / manufacturing environment
* Be a minimum of degree qualified
* In the management of a highly technical team
* No less than 5yrs relevant experience
* Experience of managing large teams including Personnel development strategy, conflict resolution, difficult conversations and performance appraisal
