CNC Programmer/Operator

Join a cutting-edge aerospace research firm based in Bedford at the forefront of innovation and technology in the aerospace industry.
Our client is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of aerospace engineering and developing next-generation solutions. We are seeking a skilled CNC Programmer/Operator to join their dynamic team and contribute to their mission of revolutionising aerospace technology.
As a CNC Programmer/Operator, you will play a vital role in producing high-value 1-off wind tunnel model components that meet quality, time, and budget requirements. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment and collaborate with a team of passionate professionals dedicated to pushing the boundaries of aerospace technology.
Please note: Due to the nature of the role, applicants are required to have been residing in the UK for at least 5 years.
Responsibilities:
* Conduct offline CNC programming using Delcam Powermill and Powershape, and online programming using Heidenhein, ensuring efficient asset utilization and minimal material waste.
* Maintain communication with CNC Section Team Leader and other teams to track progress and understand quality and delivery requirements.
* Achieve minimum direct booking requirements and use correct project booking codes.
* Operate multiple machines when necessary and effectively hand over work if needed.
* Provide recommendations for process improvement and adhere to quality, health, safety, and environmental standards.
Requirements:
* Proficiency in writing offline milling programs using Delcam PowerMill and PowerShape (2018 and 2019), including importing geometry, modelling supports/fixtures, establishing tooling and clamping sequences, creating cutter paths, determining speeds and feeds, and posting programs.
* Experience as a CNC Setter/Operator, familiar with Heidenhein controls.
* Experience in manufacturing tightly toleranced bespoke components.
* Ability to mentor and coach less experienced staff, with a flexible, positive attitude towards meeting project schedules.
* Self-motivated with keen attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
