The main benefit of temporary work is you can choose when you work. You control your career, if you want a break it’s far easier to take time off and fit your job around your life. It may seem a little scary not having a permanent contract but you may soon enjoy the freedom.
Each company is different… Different procedures & systems in order to get the job done. Temping at different companies gives you an insight to what the company does and the ability to learn new skills which makes you far more employable.
While looking for a permanent position rather than having gaps on your CV of unemployment, it is better to have temporary/ contract assignments with respectable companies. It immediately makes your CV more impressive and could be the result of you getting an interview or not.
Temporary employees are paid on a weekly basis. Which is easier to manage your money and if you only complete 1 weeks work you receive the money the following week.
Starting off temping in a company is the best way of getting your foot through the door. You are able to prove yourself which could even lead to a permanent position.
Always remember don’t turn down a good temp role just because you want a permanent contract (You never know where it might lead)
Temporary workers are able to have time off for permanent interviews. As companies are aware that candidates are looking for permanent position, the flexibility is there to take time off.
Temporary employees still have rights and are entitled to benefits such as holiday allowance and regular pay. You are entitled to the same quality of working conditions as a permanent member of staff, access to permanent positions, car park.
You’re able to work close to home, you can choose the areas that you want to work.
Do you want a career change later in life? Or you may be a graduate or school leaver undecided on the career path you wish to take. A temporary job can answer some important questions before you take the plunge.
